The Ministry of Marriage (MoM) is back and this time they are determined to marry Lady Rosamund Westruther (aka Beauty) to Griffin, Earl of Tregarth (aka the Beast). Rosamund has no problems with doing her duty and indeed waits three years for Griff to get his act together. He only decides to marry her in order to protect his sister and is genuinely surprised when she fails to follow his caveman-like edicts and toddle down to Cornwall to marry him. Much like the Curate’s egg, there were parts that were excellent and other bits that left me cold. Hilary de Vere is used to discrimination because of her boorish family. She is fired from a ladies’ academy as their new patron doesn’t want a de Vere corrupting the girls. On her way home she comes across charming rogue Jonathon Westruther, Earl of Davenport. She decides to travel to London with him so she can have her very first season and hopefully find a respectable husband. Continue reading

Review: Forged in Steele by Maya Banks

Forged in SteeleTitle: Forged in Steele (KGI #7)

Genre: Romantic Suspense
Page count: 384 pages
Publisher: Berkley

Forged in Steele is fairly light on the suspense but heavy on the romance. Steele, one of the KGI leaders, may have had a thing for Dr Maren Scofield for some time but he’s not the most romantic of guys. His method of propositioning Maren is woeful but she falls for it and they are soon happy victims of insta-love. Maren gets into trouble and Steele is determined to save the day. It isn’t bad by a long shot but for me this isn’t Banks at her best. Continue reading

The concept behind Forsaken by the Others was intriguing but I found the execution a little lacking. Royce sends private investigator Shiarra West and her sidekick Sara to Los Angeles for their own protection. Clyde, the vampire looking after them, demands they investigate a zombie infestation within his territory. He won’t however give the ladies the tools they need to track down the necromancer properly and seems to know much more than he is letting on. Continue reading

The cover and the blurb really drew me in but I didn’t enjoy this as much as I had hoped. Private detective Susan “Ice” Berg is hired to find a girl who has gone missing in Barbados. Her father, a member of the British aristocracy doesn’t want to involve the police as it may tarnish the family name. She and her sidekick Dutch get up to a variety of hijinks while tracking the teen and you have to wonder whether hiring them was worth all of the property damage they caused. Continue reading
